HUNDLEY’S HEADLINES for December 4-8, 2017

We will be having a special snack in our classroom on Polar Express Day, December 15th.   Students may wear school appropriate PJs and regular school shoes.  Please make sure your child’s food approval note is signed and returned.  We will also have parent volunteers (Mason W.’s mom, Torey’s mom and Riley’s mom, and Nathan’s mom) to help us in our room with holiday craft stations on this date. 

Reading:
  • know sounds of /ch/ and /sh/ and /th/ and read words with these beginning sounds
  • identify vowels (a,e,i,o,u) and consonants
  • know all consonant sounds and use these beginning sounds when reading unfamiliar words
  • count syllables in 1, 2 or 3 syllable words
Writing:
  • write sentences/stories using beginning sounds and ending sounds to spell words
  • use meatball space between each word
  • use capital letters and ending punctuation in sentences
Math:
  • learning about shapes
  • counting by 1s and 5s and 10s
  • counting to 100
Unit Study:  ZOOLOGY
·      reviewing mammals, birds, reptiles
·      begin learning about amphibians

Homework:
·      read for 30 minutes, every night
·      log in 2 books in your reading log, every night
·      practice reading your new Power Words (big, where, yes), every night
·      know the old Power words at Flash Speed

  • December 13 – PTA Holiday Craft for Hundley’s class
  • December 15 - Polar Express Day (wear your pajamas!), Craft Stations, Holiday Treats
  • December 16-January 1 – Happy Holidays – Enjoy!
  • January 2 - school reopens
